Most lead-acid boat batteries fail every 2–4 years. Most pontoon owners replace them twice before they sell the boat.
This is a 1,280 cranking amp LiFePO4 starter battery that weighs 25.9 lbs — about 49 lbs lighter than the lead-acid Group 31 it replaces. Drop it in your existing battery box. No wiring changes. Comnpatible with all major brands.
It also does three things your current battery can’t:
- Monitors itself. The Ionic Red Battery app shows your battery’s charge level from your phone — check it from your truck before you back the boat down the ramp.
- Heats itself in winter. The battery management system (BMS) activates an internal heater below 32°F automatically so that it can accept a charge even in cold climates. Leave it in the boat all winter. Turn the key in the spring.
- Backs itself up. If your charging system fails on the water, long-press the Emergency Start button or tap it in the app to activate a built-in reserve that cranks the motor. No jumper cables. No tow bill. Peace of mind wherever you are. Just press the button on the battery to activate or use your phone to access the app.

The BMS activates an internal heater below 32°F automatically so that the battery can accept a charge even when it’s below freezing. Leave it in the boat all winter with no issues.
