About the Product
Solar charging isn’t built into the GenBox 1200S. This kit is what adds it. The MPPT controller sits between your solar panel and the battery, converting panel output into the right charge for the GenBox and shutting off cleanly when the battery is full.
The same kit also handles 12V vehicle charging through the included cigarette lighter adapter, so you can top off on the drive to the campsite or the job site.
MPPT Tracking, Not Guesswork
A basic solar connection wastes whatever your panel produces above or below the battery’s ideal charging point. MPPT — maximum power point tracking — continuously finds the point where your panel is producing the most usable power and holds it there as light conditions change.
The controller uses DSP control and FSBB topology for stable conversion with low heat and minimal waste. It charges the battery fully, then stops. No overcharging, no babysitting.
Up to 400W of Solar Input
The kit accepts up to 400W of solar at 11–50V DC. Connect a single 400W panel directly, or pair two 200W panels with a Y-type MC4 cable for the full 400W.
With a 400W panel, the GenBox 1200S can charge while your refrigerator continues running — extending your backup window through daylight hours. Smaller panels still charge the unit, just at slower rates.
Solar panels sold separately. “Charges while running” is verified for 400W panels.
12V Car Charging Included
The cigarette lighter adapter cable is in the box. Plug into any 12V vehicle outlet to charge at 12V/10A. A full charge from empty takes roughly 14–15 hours, which makes it well suited to a long drive or to topping up between stops rather than a quick refill.
Important: Never charge from solar and the vehicle outlet at the same time. Use one input at a time.
